Description
A quick and easy 15-minute appetizer featuring crispy French bread stuffed with a gooey blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheese, brushed with savory garlic butter.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large French baguette or Italian loaf (about 24 inches, day-old preferred)
- 2 cups low-moisture mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4–6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- Cut the bread into 1-inch thick slices, then cut each slice in half horizontally to create bite-sized chunks (approx. 20-24 pieces).
- In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, dried parsley, and salt. Mash with a fork until a uniform paste forms.
- Make a small pocket in the center of each bread piece. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of mozzarella into each pocket. Optionally top with a pinch of cheddar.
- Arrange stuffed bites on the prepared baking sheet. Generously brush the tops and sides with the garlic butter mixture.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 2 minutes before serving immediately.
Notes
Use day-old bread to prevent sogginess. Grate your own cheese for better melting. Watch the garlic closely to prevent burning. Do not freeze leftovers as the texture will suffer.
