Easy Football Tailgate Walking Tacos: 5-Step Game Day Snack

  • Author: Saly
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

A convenient, mess-free game day snack where seasoned ground beef and toppings are served directly inside individual bags of Fritos corn chips, eliminating the need for plates or utensils.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 packet (25g) taco seasoning mix (or homemade blend)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Individual 1 oz (28g) bags of Fritos Original Corn Chips (1 bag per person)
  • 1 cup (115g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (120g) sour cream
  • 1/4 cup diced Roma tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp sliced pickled jalapeños
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef. Break into small crumbles and cook for 5-7 minutes until no longer pink. Leave about a tablespoon of grease for flavor.
  2. Reduce heat to medium, sprinkle taco seasoning over the meat, and add 1/2 cup water. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  3. While the beef simmers, prepare toppings: dice tomatoes, slice jalapeños, and shred cheese. Lay out individual Fritos bags on a large baking sheet or tray.
  4. Poke a small hole in the bottom corner of each Fritos bag using a chopstick or skewer.
  5. Fill each bag with 3-4 tablespoons of the seasoned beef mixture, followed by a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Top with diced tomatoes, sliced jalapeños, a dollop of sour cream, and cilantro if using. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not drain all the grease from the beef as it adds flavor. Assemble tacos immediately before serving to prevent chips from becoming soggy. If serving a large crowd, keep meat warm in a slow cooker. Leftover meat can be frozen for up to 3 months.
