Easy Maple Pecan Brie Kids Love to Make

  • Author: Saly
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A simple, kid-friendly baked brie appetizer that requires no sharp knives for children. Drizzle maple syrup and sprinkle pecans over a wheel of brie, bake until gooey, and serve with crackers for a fun bonding experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 wheel Brie cheese (approx. 810 oz / 225-280g)
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 box crackers (water crackers or salted crackers recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the brie wheel in a small oven-safe baking dish.
  3. Using a sharp knife, carefully slice off the top third of the rind to create a lid, being careful not to cut all the way through. Lift the lid slightly to create a pocket.
  4. Drizzle 3 tablespoons of maple syrup over the exposed cheese, allowing it to run down the sides and into the pocket.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped pecans generously over the syrup-covered cheese, pressing them gently into the pocket.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is soft, jiggly in the center, and the pecans are golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes to allow the cheese to set slightly and prevent burning.
  8. Serve warm with crackers for dipping.

Notes

Ensure the brie is soft to the touch before baking. Do not overbake; the cheese should be jiggly like Jell-O when done. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes after baking to prevent burning mouths with molten cheese. For toddlers, chop nuts finely to avoid choking hazards. Can be made dairy-free using vegan brie alternatives.
