Description
A simple, 5-ingredient green smoothie that tastes tropical and sweet, masking the spinach with pineapple and banana. It is quick to make, budget-friendly, and keeps you full for hours.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh baby spinach (packed)
- 1 medium ripe banana (peeled)
- 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
Instructions
- Prep ingredients: Peel the banana and chop fresh pineapple into chunks if not using frozen. Ensure spinach is washed.
- Add liquid to blender: Pour the almond milk into the blender first to help the blades spin freely.
- Add greens and soft ingredients: Add the spinach, banana, and Greek yogurt. Add ginger or chia seeds if using.
- Add frozen fruit: Add the frozen pineapple chunks last to provide thickness and cold temperature.
- Blend: Start on low speed, then increase to high. Blend for 60-90 seconds until completely smooth and vibrant green.
- Adjust consistency: If too thick, add a splash more liquid. If too thin, add more frozen fruit or ice.
- Serve: Pour immediately into a glass or jar. Top with extra pineapple or mint if desired.
Notes
For best texture, use frozen fruit to avoid watering down the smoothie with ice. If using fresh pineapple, add ice cubes. Ripe bananas with brown spots provide the best sweetness and creaminess. If the smoothie separates after sitting, stir well before drinking.
